My Mighty Princess

I had my doubts about this show- cheesy title; unknown cast; weird costumes; the mixed guy doesn't look that cute (look at daniel henney). Still, out of boredom, I played it.. and it started with the kung-fu era.
the back of my mind screamed, "off it sam! it would be terrible"

10 minutes later, it started to bore me out. The girl had supernatural strength, not pretty. Was really tempted to turn it off.

Into the show, story unveils, it turned out to be pretty good when the storyline took me by surprise. The romance saved it and it was only until the remaining 30 minutes that I realised who the main male lead was.! I'm super dense, sorry. And the female lead was the one who acted in was the one in the terrible show with rain.- A love to kill and one which I would like to watch soon- The devil.

Ratings: 7.5/10 -too draggy at the front, but still good.

Code Blue

Code blue, like any other Japanese drama, it doesn't disappoint in the area of storyline. However, since I'm a sucker for romance, the show doesn't satisfy me very much. Nevertheless, every episode just draws you in and there is never a dull moment.

Yet another Yamapi film. He gets all the really suave and heroic roles which brings him up to fame despite his lack of musical talents. He's such a cool man with few words that I don't think he exceeds 10 lines in every episode, yet he still shone brightly in this show.

Here comes the cool part,

sypnosis from wiki:
The "Doctor Helicopter" system was legalized in Japan in June 2007. A medical team is dispatched to the patients on a helicopter to provide medical care in the field as soon as possible. One day, four young physicians are assigned to this latest medical system. The doctors experience traumatic medical situations, deal with personal ambitions, witness the fragility of life, and they grow personally and professionally.

Doctors on a helicopter. Now wouldn't that be exciting enough. But, I've got to mentioned that this show is not recommended for the faint hearts. They operates on the patient right at the accident site. Several times I had to close my eyes despite knowing that they're just cutting rubber, it just seemed too real.

Trust me, this would not disappoint.

Baby and I

Baby and I! I've been waiting forever for this and I happend to stumble upon the link in a forum, I doubt it would be released in Singapore.

Baby moon acting.

my personal favourite.

I have a more than a hundred photos of moon in my comp. Every single one of them would make your inside melt.

I wonder why can't korean films have good, gripping story lines. They have good tear-jerking lines and scenes, but you have a good cry and forgot what it was later.

I love the cast!

Jang Geun-suk as Han Joon-su
Moon Mason as Baby Woo-ram
Kim Byeol as Film student Kim Byeol

If you havent got a clue who Moon Mason is, read this post. All my ravings about him is in there, so I'll save this space for cutie dad Jang Geun-Suk. Only at 21, he's got a string of impressive dramas under his belt. Beethovan Virus's on my next watch list. And, I think his top part of his facial features resembles Hong Ki.

Storyline: (from wiki)

"Baby and I" is a straight up comedy centered around Jang Geun-suk's character, Joon-soo, becoming a sudden father. In the movie, Joon-soo is a tough 18 year old high school kid that loves to cause trouble. He often gets in fights, once with 17 other guys, but always comes out as the victor. Then one day Joon-soo's parents decides to go out of town. Joon-soo decides then and there to throw a party at his parent's home. He then goes shopping for groceries and comes upon an unexpected surprise. A little toddler sits in a shopping basket wearing the name tag "Han Wooram" and points to Joon-soo as his father!
He then takes the baby home and tries to find the baby's real parents. When he can't find the parents, Joon-soo even tries to abandon the baby but always fails. He then takes the kid to school which causes further scandal and a suspension. But during this time an unexpected event occurs between Joon-soo and Woo-ram…

Ratings: 9.5/10. Light-hearted comedy but it still made me cry. Baby Moon's such an impressive actor!

I AM SAM

After a loonnnng break, I'm sad to admit that I am Sam was the only drama i watched during this long period of time. The rest of the time were spent on variety programs and alot of random music videos.

I am Sam is one of the rare high school korean drama. Teacher-student plot, based on a manga. First few episodes was pretty promising, however, it went downhill in terms of the plot- too bland and i was fast-forwarding from episode 10 onwards. Japan still make the best high school dramas.

The romance in this series is... sorry i just got to say this.. its disgusting. okay maybe its a too strong word to use, but the female lead is too pretty, while the male lead is, ugly and old. (not to be disrespectful, he's quite an actor i must say) The only thing that might be worth watching would be TOP's appearance in this drama. But his air time was too little and his relationship with Eun Byul (Park Min Young) didn't further develop. ARGHHH! He's the only reason why I watched this series.

TOP-shi =)

Moo Shin and Eun Byul. Male lead in blue- blurred. (I'm evil, sorry. HAHA)

I like Park Min Young before watching I am Sam despite not watching any of her shows before. She's got this sweet, cute girl image which doesn't turn you off yet a slight hint of fiesty attitude that pulls you in. I kinda wished I could have half her look.

Kwon Sang Woo's wife, Son Tae Young plays a crazy, clingy teacher who is in love with the ugly male lead. It doesn't make any sense. I guess I sound so superficial, but I like drama leads to look compatible with each other. This drama spoilt her classy image for me.

Ratings: 5/10. Watch it only if you've got a thing for TOP coolness or is a big bang fan.

Family Outing

Watch live streaming or download hardsubs from :http://fofansubs.wordpress.com/episode-downloads-hq-hardsubbed/

This is one of the funniest variety program I've ever stumbled upon. The only reason I watched was because of Lee Hongki (Ft island) appearance on the program. I ended up enjoying the rest of the MCs. That would include big names like Lee Hyori- you'd know that she's the highest paid female singer, diva-ish like- think koda kumi of Japan. She's known for being sexy but you'd be surprised at how hillarious she is living in the village.

Summary: (from http://fofansubs.wordpress.com)
Family Outing is a show that consists of families from the country being given a vacation for 1 night & 2 days. During this time, the hosts of the show and guest(s) form a ‘family’ and look after their house, experiencing the lives of these people. They must complete different chores and jobs listed by the families from the country, and play fun & hilarious games while they’re at it.

Every single one of the MCs are so humourous even though they don't look like it.

Ratings: 8/10. Watch it if you like the guests. Watchable even if you don't know anyone. It was boring at the beginning, but after a little while, I couldn't stop laughing.

Kurosagi

Good o' Yamapi, He's awesome with creating trademark poses for almost all his dramas.

In Nobuta Wo Produce, it was "kon-kon".
In Proposal, it was "hallelujah chance"
In Kurosagi, it was " bang!"
Summary:
Kurosaki is a young man whose family was destroyed by swindlers. Despite that, Kurosaki grows up to become a con artist known as Kurosagi. As Kurosagi, he swindles other con artists and returns the money to the original victim. He works with the master swindler Katsuragi Toshio even though Toshio had a hand in the destruction of Kurosaki’s family. Kurosaki's life begins to change when he meets Yoshikawa Tsurara, a young law student who disapproves of his disrespect of the law. Can she persuade Kurosaki to give up swindling and his quest for revenge?

I find it pretty endearing. His cool, mysterious vibe was perfect for his character in every episode. Still, you'd spot his cuteness here and there. Admitedly, he's not the best actors out there but still you'd still LOVE to watch him.

One thing notable in this drama was the acting skills of the dying old man. - Katsuragi Toshio

He was deathly sick in one moment, then deathly evil in another but really cute at times.

Once again, I think Horikita Maki seriously can't act. In Hana Kimi and Nobuta, alike, she's wooden-ly stiff, pretty to look at but shallow character. Terrible acting which is why I wonder why does she gets REALLY good roles.

Another annoying factor in this series was the useless, act all-knowing policeman evil chuckle. His voice is just too squeky for an old unattractive man.

Watch for:
-Yamapi showing the finger to the cops.
my jaw dropped at the scene.

Ratings: 7.5/10. Wished they would develop the romance bit in the movie.

[upcoming movie] Page 198 of that man's book

The film follows the developing love story between a man named Juno (played by Lee Dong-wook) who rips out only page 198 from books and a librarian, Eun-soo (Eugene).
What? The story line sounds totally insane and psycho. However, this would definately be in my watch-list. THE CAST! THE CAST! Eugene and Lee Dong-wook from My Girl. I really really liked him in My Girl, but after that he seemed to have disappeared. Though now I wouldn't know if I would be comfortable with him acting psycho.
Eugene looks really pretty! Finally, she's not going to be a mother.
P.S. I'm going to watch My girl again. Do a review, and wonder why I hated Lee Junki so much then. Then again, My girl is also one of my fav KDrama. So, why is Lee Junki in alot of my favourite dramas?

Hana Yori Dango: Final- the movie

FINALLY. Hana Yori Dango is completed. After the manga, season 1 & 2, and the movie.. I could take a break from Tsukushi and the F4. Heard that the korean Hana Yori Dango is coming out.. =/ why do they like to film this show so much?! ENOUGH ENOUGH. I'd be delighted if they would film an Ouran drama!

Back to the movie. The opening of the movie, I was disturbed by a crying child, screaming dad in the theatres. How unlucky! Somehow, I liked the idea of the filming in Las Vegas and Hong Kong but not skinny Jun running around along the shores of the deserted island. He's way too skinny and I've never thought he was suitable as Domyoji right from the beginning, it might be his weirdly tattoo-ed eyebrows in the show?

The wedding! It was absolutely hillarious when the lights went off and Hanazawa Rui became the priest infront of the couple.

Storyline wise, it was pretty disappointing- revolves around a tiara which represents their love. After the show, i was like "what? thats it?" Nevertheless, it was an excellent wrap, nothing was left hanging and now we bid Hana Yori Dango farewell..

Iljimae

I wonder why everytime I'm watching Lee Junki's dramas, my urge to quickly finish the series and blog hastily is abnormal. It took me more than a week after watching Zettai Kareshi that I finally made an entry.

Back to Iljimae. It would definately remind you of Junki's previous drama, Time between wolf and dog. The storyline has clear similarities and both, unlike most Korean dramas which concentrates on the the romance side. Both Iljimae and Time between wolf and dog concentrates on Junki's martial arts. I could count the romantic scenes on one hand, but still the story line was gripping.

Sigh, I hate to admit this, I've a crush on Lee Junki.

Summary!

Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Ryung acts as a useless gangster in the marketplace by day but at night he is a chivalrous robber who robs corrupt government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he leaves behind a wooden branch from a plum tree at the site of the robbery to take responsibility for the robbery. The poor citizens only know him as Iljimae. Bong Soon is a hilarious girl with good martial art skills and lives as a swindler. She only loves Ryung and sacrifices her whole life for him. Eun Chae is a government official's daughter and is good in nature and usually helps miserable people. She meets Iljimae once by chance, and their sweet love story begins. However, her love puts Iljimae in a dangerous situation because an Imperial Guard also loves her.

He is probably the best korean guy actor I've seen so far. I loved it when he was acting this good-for-nothing goofy and funny yong-ee, then serious and so brilliantly smart as Iljimae (the righteous burgler- think Robin Hood).

Han Hye Joo as Eun-chae, she acted in Spring Waltz which was one of my favourite Korean dramas, as much as I like her, her acting skills was not very outstanding. In fact, in Iljimae, I found her to be a very boring female lead- she was too perfect.

And! You'd get to see Kwon Sang Woo's wife in this drama. Though it was only for one episode.

Ratings: 8.5/10; only the non-existent ending and romance sucks.

Zettai Kareshi

Zettai Kareshi- Absolute boyfriend or perfect boyfriend. Like many Japanese dramas, this was from a manga. I wasn't exactly a huge fan of it as it was too far-fetched.

Summary from wiki:

Robot maker, Kronos Heaven, finally develops "Night Tenjo", the perfect male humanoid programmed to be devoted and completely loyal to his lover. The company chooses temp worker Izawa Riko to take part in a 5-day free trial. At first, Riko only sees Night as a household appliance. But when she finds out how deep Night's devotion to herself is, Riko finds herself falling in love with him. Joining the love triangle is Asamoto Soshi, a distinguished young executive at her company who has feelings for her.

A robot devoted to love, and is your perfect boyfriend. How creepy!? And Mr Robot, aka, Nighto- was downright annoying! I think I must be cold-hearted towards him (what? he's only a robot) because my sister cried and i did not. Now, she has NEVER shed a drop of tear at any scenes of ANY dramas. It must have been that sad, and I wonder why am I not moved to tears? (fyi, I tear at almost all sad scenes)

Once again, I was attracted to the second male lead. Hiro Mizushima as Asamoto Soshi. Though there wasn't much development in the relationship between Riko and Soshi, and it was bright and clear that it would be Riko + Night (MANGA!), I was still rooting for Soshi till the end.

RATINGS: 7/10.

Hana Yori Dango 1 & 2

oh wretched me. i've lost the zest to blog. it took me such a long time to start this post.

properly now, After 1 year a few months, I've finally finished Hana Yori Dango 1 & 2. It took me such a long time to start Hana Yori Dango 2 because after the manga (a long one), and a few episodes of the Taiwanese version (featuring taiwanese boyband F4) I've felt i've had enought with Hana Yori Dango.

side note: i'm watching Zettai Kareshi currently and Hiro Mizushima is so cute! HEHEHEHE. he's a dead ringer for Jun Matsumoto at certain angles but wayyyyy cuter. When I first saw Hiro on Hana Kimi then Jun on Hana Yori Dango previews, I was so certain it was the same person.. one of the reasons why i started this series.

Season 1

I enjoyed it so much even though some parts were from the manga, they did not follow entirely. Thats what I love about JDramas, they don't just copy directly from the manga yet keeping the storyline. I hate to say that I was more of a Hanazawa Rui (Shun Oguri) camper instead of Domyoji Tsukasa (Jun Matsumoto). Comparing sShun Oguri's role in Hana Kimi and him as Hanazawa Rui, I felt he fits perfectly into both roles despite the characters being different miles apart. Season 1 scenes were much sweeter compared to Season 2. Moving on...

Season 2
I brawled like a baby in the first few episodes. It was too sad, I was screaming inside "JUST GET TOGETHER WILL'YA!" I gave them 3 episodes to be together.. NOOOO i was wrong! Domyoji lost his memory about Makino in episode 9 when there were only 11 episodes in the series. I stopped crying at episode 5 because it did not get any better. However, last episode was really touching when he ran out to save her in the cold. OKAY, enough of spoilers. The ending dance was real cheesy and I'm having doubts with watching the new movie. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE SO MANY!!!!!

UPCOMING DRAMAS TO LOOK FORWARD TO!

Drama :SBS Tazza (타짜)
Casting : Jang Hyuk, Kim Min Joon, Han Yeh Seul, and Kang Sung Yun
Schedule to be broadcasted : 8th September

Jang Hyuk and Han Ye Seul! It would be so interesting to watch. Jang Hyuk where you would see him in Dance of the Dragon with Fann Wong (One of the most terrible movies ever!) not a big fan of him, but well, nothing about him to dislike anyway.

HAN YE SEUL - if you've watched Couple of Fantasy, you can't possible miss her. One of my favourite Kdrama. I've been anticipating for her new dramas! She speaks fluent English and plays the Piano. Sigh, Jong Hun(see FT island post) loves her like I do.

Quote from DramaWiki: " The drama is about someone who is good at cheating in gambling."

Short and sweeet.

Drama : KBS The World They Live In
Casting : Hyun Bin ,Song Hye-kyo
Schedule to be broadcasted : Nov 2008

This would be really good. Just look at the cast! (I know, i select my dramas based on who were casted. It's important to look at the cast at times)

Song Hye kyo- whom Honggi (see FT island post again) likes. Her last drama was Full House I believe..

Hyun Bin- gonna look unshaven and rugged again? please do. His last drama was Snow Queen.

Quote from wiki: "This drama is about the process of a television drama production. Jung Ji Oh(Hyun Bin) is a charismatic drama PD whereas Joo Joon Young(Song Hye-Kyo) is a PD who is direct and confident. "

I'm not entirely convinced by the plot, but I wouldn't miss it for Hyun Bin and Song Hye-Kyo. That is like putting Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks together (I hope this is a good example).

But anyway, It might be until year 2009 that I would be able to watch these. Not released yet, still got to wait for subs, worse still, I might have to watch with Chinese subtitles with my ma ma if I can't find it online.

The OC

The OC has got to be my favourite english tv series of all time, and it was also influential- I started saying "eeew" ALOT(Summer), the way they dress. Yes, I know also a guilty pleasure of mine as its bad influence, high school kids getting into fights, drugs, lesbianism, sex and whatsnot. I loved the bands that were featured, like Death Cab for Cutie!, Subways!, the Killers!. I followed season 1 and 2 religiously but after I heard that Marissa was going to die, I lost interest.

Music! Music from the OC was amazing, I found myself listening and trying to recall which scene did they play this song. Sigh, I miss those times. Mix-tape 6 was my favourite .

General favourite tracks played on the OC:

"Forever Young" (Alphaville cover) – Youth Group
"California 2005" – Phantom Planet
"Hide and Seek" – Imogen Heap "Na Na Na Na Naa" (Credited as "Na Na Na Na Naah") – Kaiser Chiefs
"Goodnight and Go" - Imogen Heap
"Fortress" - Pinback
"To Be Alone with You" - Sufjan Stevens
"Walnut Tree" - Keane
"Move On" - Jet

My favourite couple- Adam Brody/Rachel Bilson or Seth Cohen/Summer Roberts

On-screen and off-screen. I was really sad to find out that they broke up in Dec 2006. Currently, Rachel Bilson's dating Hayden Christensen and I kinda like him too.

Can't possibly ignore their outfits. I'm still obsessed with Seth's shoes, Seth's Penguin polo tees.

Ratings: 8/10 (for season 1 &2). Usually I hate long television series, but the OC is an exception.

p.s Alex the lesbian is HOT HOT HOT!

Rainbow song

Rainbow Song (虹の女神, Niji no Megami) had long been in my want-to-watch list ever since it was released in 2006. Of course it was because of our dear boy Hayato Ichihara and it was released soon after I became all fan-girly after watching WaterBoys II. Sad to say, I never got to watch it until two weeks ago on crunchyroll, after a long 2 year wait. I remembered googleing 'rainbow song' every now and then, but nope, couldn't find it anywhere.

It wasn't really all that great but I still cried with my sister exclaiming, " WHAT! WHATS THERE TO CRY ABOUT! WHERE? EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT HAPPENED?"

It stirred my interest in filming. Not digital filming, but film filming(old school kind). After all, I'm a film enthusiatic but it had always revolves around my manual cameras (I probably own 20+ manual cameras).
In love with each other but never gotten to confess and be together was sure a bummer. I was screaming, "WHAT! thats it?!?!"
Unlike in Rookies, whereby Hayato was the leader whom everyone fears. In Rainbow song, he was a timid, soft-spoken, weak guy who was always bullied which i must say I love Aniya in Rookies.
There is a lesson to be learnt in this movie, that is to be brave and never hold back your feelings, thinking that he/she would be there forever. It would be too late to regret when he/she's no longer around.
Ratings: 6.5/10 It's hard to be un-biased against Hayato when he's so cute.

Goong S

Goong S is a spinoff of huge-hit Goong. I think they did a bad job. So bad that I couldnt recall who acted in Goong S except for Se7en. He's probably the main reason why i managed to finish it(almost). I could remember fast-forwarding most parts just to watch se7en and those romantic scenes. The actors and actresses never made it big after this show unlike Goong. Goong was phenomenal, it was so good that the main cast's popularity sky-rocketed.

The storyline is vaguely similar to Goong, obviously trying to ride on the popularity waveline of Goong that they did this in a hurry and failed terribly. Ratings were at its pits, quite a sad thing as it was se7en's debut on acting.

I'm not going to bother about the story line, just think, this is the prince version of princess hours in Goong.(if you watched that, it's a MUST-WATCH).

Se7en's cute and hot on a skateboard. Though I've been wondering where has he disappeared to, I heard he was trying his luck at the States and I missed his long hair. His moon-dance was pretty impressive and .... hmmm, can't you tell i'm racking my brains as to what I can write.

Ratings: 4.5/10. Just watch Goong.

Lovely Complex Live Action

Lovely complex Live Action movie, released in 2006 was just major cuteness! Everything in the movie screamssss KAWAII.
The cast was perfect, needless to say, I loved the story. From manga, to movie, to anime, loved them all. Although the manga has not yet been fully released and still maybe still drawing (i think? correct me if i'm wrong, havent been following)
Teppei Koike as Otani
Standing at 156cm (wahaha, shorter than me!), he's the star player of his high school's basket ball team. Teppei's simply just PERFECT for this role! Well, though he isn't really 156cm, his image somewhat belongs to the cute-sunshine-boy-next-door category. He sings, plays the guitar and you would know him from WaT with Wentz Eiji(mixed jap). CUUUTTEEEEE!
Koizumi-unknown actress

She did a great job portraying Risa Koizumi though she's probably a model instead of an actress. Risa's a klutz, silly and ackward because she's 172cm tall. Quite a giant for a girl in Japan, most are petite. And she's got a major crush on Otani! 172cm, 156cm, naturally, they look really funny together.

So, the storyline revolves around how this funny pair falls in love with each other and the super cute stuff they did.

Ratings: 8/10. You would enjoy it if you love comedies. There were some really creative ideas in this movie, pretty brief, but nothing important was left out.

Hanazakari no Kimitachi e - Hana Kimi Live Action Jap

You guys would probably be familar with this drama if you caught the taiwanese version. Featuring Wuzun, Ella, Jiro Wang, was aired before this version. But you can't miss the Japanese version because unlike the taiwanese version, it wasn't entirely the same as what happened in the manga.

Here's the wiki link: Hana Kimi Live Action

Another reason why you should catch this is because, the guys in there are sooooo cute! Taiwanese version, you just get 2 of them (quite alright, for wuzun and jiro). For the Japanese version, you get a handful of them! CUTEEE.

Chinese Sano(wuzun) might be better-looking than japanese Sano (Shun Oguri), but in terms of acting skills, and that sexy mysterious aura of Sano(manga), who can beat Shun? With a string of impressive dramas and movies like Hana Yori Dango, Gokusen, GTO, Densha Otoko, Crows Zero 2, Ghost Train. He would not disappoint and always delivers his role superb-ly. But not drool-worthy. HAHA

The cuter lots.

Nakatsu- Toma Ikata

he looks weird in some angles, but you can't possible hate him. Another Johnny boy.

Namba!- Hiro Mizushima

Loved him even though he wasn't a major character. Looks like Jun of Arashi to me at first, but he's definately wayyyyy better-looking than Jun. I'll watch him in Absolute boyfriend after i finish Hana Yori Dango 2. My sis's going to have exams and i've got to wait for her *roll eyes*. And he speaks fluent English. sigh, i saw it on youtube. He was in Lovely Complex Live too, but minor role.

Ghost Guy- Yusuke Yamamoto

he's appearing ALOT in japanese magazines. Never really acted, but he's so popular. Actually, he reminds me a little of se7en, those thick lips.

Shirota Yuu

HAHAHA. HOT! he's in Rookies as well. Of course, he's more outstanding in Rookies. Half spanish, half Jap. I think I've talked about him before.
oh gosh, totally neglected the main female character. Well, she's the one who acted in Nobuta Wo Produce. Really pretty compared to chinese Mizuki(Ella), but I personally find her acting wooden and exaggerated.
Ratings: 7/10. good for comedy and non-serious stuff. i found it to be too brief.
